The Rescue Diver rating is one of the most beneficial ratings a scuba diver will ever earn.  In the Rescue Diver course you will learn techniques which will allow you to help yourself in stressful situations as well as lend assistance others in need.  The Rescue Diver course is a huge confidence builder for divers of any level.

The course consists of classroom academics, confined water and open water dives.  In the classroom you will learn about how stressors enter into diving situations and how to deal with them.  You will also learn of techniques for assisting yourself and other divers in times of need.

In the confined water you will learn and practice the skills needed to provide the assistance to yourself or other divers.

In the open water you will put your practice to full use as you are required to demonstrate competence in the various skills you learned.

To be fully certified as a Rescue Diver, you will also have to be current in CPR and 1st Aid.  If you are not current in these skills Tortuga Bay offers courses in Emergency First Response which will qualify you in these areas.

A nice addition to the Rescue Course is the PADI Oxygen Provider Course.  In this course you will learn how to assemble and administer oxygen in emergency situations.
