WELCOME TO RON'S PAGE

Welcome to Ron's Page.

July has arrived with a BANG!!  I don't know about your neighborhoods but mine was a lot of firecrackers and flashing lights shooting into the air on the 4th.  I think every illegal firework made was set off somewhere close to my house.  This was all capped off by the fine show put on following the Kenny Rogers Concert at Island Grove.  It was nice to see so many folks decked out in flag designed shirts and houses with Old Glory flying out front.  It gives me hope we still have some of that good old American patriotism left in this great country.

What's with all the doom and gloom in the media these days.  I can't remember the last time I tuned into the news and actually heard something good.  All I hear is how bad our economy is, bombings in Iraq or politics.  There must be some good things to report on but what are they?

Regarding the economy, we are  feeling the pinch.  I think everyone has decided not to spend money just because of what they hear in the media. Personally, I don't believe our economy is as bad off as the media makes it sound.  Certainly we are not experiencing the best of times, I mean gas prices of over $4.00 a gallon certainly aren't good.  I have had conversations with a few bankers and they all reported a majority of their clients had favorable gains last year.  Our business didn't grow much but it did grow.  I see the parking lots at the grocery stores, Walmart and the shopping malls filled with cars every time I drive by.  Liquor stores reported good sales the first day they were allowed to open on Sunday.  Yet, the news says we are in a fast downward spiral to economic doom.

I am amazed at the numbers of people coming into our store who are going on summer vacations.  These aren't the driving type either.  Most are headed to some exotic destination to enjoy the sun, sand and scuba diving.  I personally am headed off this month with a group of excited scuba divers to Truk Lagoon.  There we will dive on lots of WWII history.  Many of us are photo buffs so keep checking the web site for pictures in the coming weeks.

If you want to stay closer to home, you still have time to join the weekend fun fest at Aurora Reservoir.  July 12 and 13 there will be Tortuga Staff and many customers socializing and cooling off in the waters of the reservoir.  It promises to be a fun weekend and is quite affordable.

Looking at a longer range get away plan?  I have 3 spaces left for our annual Thanksgiving trip.  This year is to the Little Cayman Beach Resort on the quaint little island of Little Cayman.  This is one of my personal all time favorite places to dive and the resort is very nice.  We have many regulars who go on the Thanksgiving trip so it is like a big family reunion each year.  Join us and see how much fun group trips can be.

Until next time.

Happy Bubbles and God Bless
