Student Materials Typical cost includes manual, logbook, dive tables and VHS or DVD.  Another option is our on line program where the manual and video portion are part of the on line study.

Open Water Evaluation This is done one of several ways.  In Colorado we offer open water certifications during the warmer months in the local waters.  In the colder months at the Blue Hole in New Mexico or the warm waters of the Homestead Crater in Utah.  The final option is to issue a referral form which allows completion at another location of your choice.

Local Open Water Evaluation Open waters conducted with Tortuga Bay would be local, Blue Hole or Homestead Crater.  For all these Tortuga Bay includes tanks, weights, instruction by a certified, current and insured instructor, registration fee, photo and certification card.

Not included are basic scuba equipment, any transportation costs, meals, lodging, park or admission fees or basic personal equipment (MFS).

$200.00
Rental Equipment Basic scuba equipment, including BCD, regulator set, information console and wetsuit appropriate to the conditions may be rented for all open water certifications.

$50.00
Personal Equipment

Personal equipment consists of your mask, fins, snorkel and booties.  This equipment is considered personal as it must fit properly and is something you wear on your face or place in your mouth.  It is something you will not rent once you are certified and at Tortuga Bay we believe it is best to learn with the equipment you will be diving with, therefore we strongly encourage you to procure your own prior to training.  The price shown is an average price for these items.  Some people already own this equipment, therefore will not have to include this amount toward certification.

Tortuga Bay courses are all private lessons.  This means you make your own schedule and in most cases it is one on one with the instructor.  Most dive centers treat private lessons as a premium service, with a premium price.  At Tortuga Bay we treat it as a premium service, but with standard group price rates.  This is a value added service you will not find elsewhere.

If you are doing comparison pricing be certain to include all the items listed above to assure you are comparing apples with apples, including the cost for private lessons.  We believe Tortuga Bay offers the finest in training and equipment options available.  If you find a better deal elsewhere please allow us the opportunity to discuss it with you.  Scuba diving certification is a lifetime investment and we want you to be sure you are getting the highest quality and safest training for your money.
